2010 All Star Game Eastern Conference v Western Conference Live
Like every year, the NBA All-Star game is bound to be one of the major events for every basketball fan around the league. In 2010, the prestigious All-Star weekend will take place in front of the biggest crowd ever to witness a basketball game at the new football stadium of the Dallas Cowboys, accommodating no less than 80000 people. Including the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade, the 2010 All-Star game between the Eastern Conference All-Stars and Western Conference All-Stars will get underway on Monday at 1 a.m. GMT.
The Eastern Conference starting lineup will feature Dwayne Wade from the Miami Heat, Allen Iverson from the Philadelphia 76ers, LeBron James from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kevin Garnett from the Boston Celtics and Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic. Coming off the bench, Derrick Rose, Al Horford, Rajon Rondo and Gerald Wallace earned their first All-Star appearance, where as Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh are entering their 8th and 5th All-Star game respectively. Likewise, shooting guard Joe Johnson will join said players as he received another invitation for the prestigious event after leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 32-17 record.
In contrast, the Western Conference starting five will include Hornets' guard Chris Paul, Denver Nugget Carmello Anthony, Tim Duncan from the San Antonio Spurs, Lakers' guard Kobe Bryant and Suns' center-forward Amar'e Stoudemire. However, due to a knee injury Chris Paul will be replaced by veteran point guard Chauncey Billups who has been an essential part of the Nuggets' run to the second place in the Western Conference. About to participate in their first All-Star game are Grizzlies' center Zach Randolph, Jazz' forward Kevin Durant and point guard Deron Williams from the Utah Jazz. Moreover, Mavs' forward Dirk Nowitzki will play in his 9th All-Star game in front of his home crowd in Dallas. Elected for back-to-back appearances were Pau Gasol and Brandon Roy, although Roy will most likely miss the event due to a hamstring injury. NBA Commissioner David Stern has not yet named a replacement for Roy, but it looks like the last spot could either go to Chris Kaman or Carlos Boozer. Obviously, the All-Star weekend celebrations are not so much about who ultimately wins the game, but to showcase the skills of the best players in the league and to electrify fans around the globe. To minimize the risk of injuries not much defense is expected to take place, allowing a high-scoring game with plenty of spectacular plays by Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and company.
