2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Live
Arguably the most spectacular basketball event, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest will once again showcase the best leapers in the league at this year's All-Star weekend. Hoping to defend his title, Nate Robinson will face Shannon Brown, Gerald Wallace and the dunk-in winner of the NBA Rookie Challenge on Sunday at 1:30 a.m. GMT.
Albeit LeBron James and Kobe Bryant both announced that they would participate in the 2010 Slam Dunk Contest, neither of them applied for a spot in this year's event down the stretch. Likewise, Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic who excited fans around the league with his 'superman' performance at the 2008 dunk contest, opted not to take part this season. Nonetheless, basketball enthusiasts around the world are looking forward to a highly entertaining event featuring some of the best high-flyers around the league.
Coming off a victory in last year's campaign, Knicks' guard Nate Robinson will face the tough challenge of defending his title and coming up with new moves to earn the judges' favor. Despite being just 5-9, Robinson showed countless times that he is able to leap as high as anyone in the league and has a solid repertoire of finishes around the rim. Appearing in his first Slam Dunk Contest, Shannon Brown from the Los Angeles Lakers certainly earned his invitation with exciting dunks in 2009-10. Like Shannon Brown, Bobcats' forward Gerald Wallace will also enter his first dunk contest and might have a slight advantage over his opponents due to being a bit taller at 6-feet-7. Last but not least, Demar DeRozan from the Toronto Raptors and Eric Gordon from the Los Angeles Clippers will participate in the dunk-in challenge earlier on Saturday to determine the fourth competitor of the 2010 Slam Dunk Contest.
