Leading the Eastern Conference with a 9-2 record, the Celtics are very content with their performance up to this point and underlined their championship ambitions early in the season. Thus, Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics will try to get their tenth win when they face the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

Having posted a 3-9 record in the first three weeks of regular season play, the Raptors did not get off to the start they were hoping for and struggled to stay competitive after the departure of Hedo Turkoglu and Chris Bosh. That said, one should take into account that Toronto played the majority of its games on the road and performed reasonably well in some of its losses. Likewise, shooting guard Leandro Barbosa and first round pick Ed Davis are still sidelined by injuries and should be able to strengthen Jay Triano's squad once they return to the floor. One positive surprise has been swingman Sonny Weems who put up 14.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in just 26 minutes per contest. Nonetheless, the Raptors will probably have a tough time avoiding a home loss versus Rajon Rondo and company on Sunday.

So far, the Raps have been playing surprisingly well after changing substantial parts of their roster this summer and losing All-Star Chris Bosh in free agency. Yet, Toronto managed to pull off an impressive 50-point victory versus the Phoenix Suns before losing a contested ball game 87-91 to the Celtics. Looking to continue to improve their defensive schemes, the Toronto Raptors will host Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics at Air Canada Centre on Friday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Albeit the Celtics eventually lost their seven-game showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals in June, there is no doubt that the squad of coach Doc Rivers remains one of the best teams in the league. Hoping to make another championship run, the franchise from Massachusetts added some more depth to their front-court in the off-season as Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal both signed for the veteran minimum in Boston. Moreover, rookie forward Semih Erden from Turkey played some solid basketball in the preseason so far and could end up getting significant playing time if any of the Celtics' big men go down with an injury. Thus, the Celtics will enter their encounter with the Toronto Raptors as favorites, even though they should not underestimate the drastically overhauled team from Toronto.
