Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls Live
After two extremely close games in Boston, both teams will head to Chicago to play game three of this Eastern Conference first round series. With the series being tied 1-1, the Bulls are looking forward to playing on their home court on Thursday at 1 a.m. GMT.
Some may have thought after Chicago’s win in game one that it was just a fluke, but the Bulls proved again in the second game that they are a tough matchup for the defending champions from Boston. Even though the Celtics were able to win this game 118-115, it all came down to Ray Allens clutch game winning shot with 2 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Two days after his disappointing performance in the series opener, Ray Allen finally played up to his potential, finishing the game with 28 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field. Considering that Kevin Garnett will most likely be out for the rest of the season the Celtics will need Allen to continue stepping up and knocking down shoots in order to advance to the second round. Likewise, Boston could need a significant improvement of their bench production. In fact, only 9 of their 118 points on Monday came from their bench players while Chicago consistently gets valuable bench contribution from Brad Miller and Kirk Hinrich. Although it should be noted that Boston’s backup players did not get much playing time, the Celtics management certainly expected more than just one or two buckets from former all-star Stephon Marbury when he was signed half way through the regular season.
Whether the Bulls will be able to maintain home court advantage after the following two home games remains to be seen. Both games in Boston were decided by just two and three points respectively, thus it seems to be justified to expect another game which may come down to a buzzer beater.
