Even though a few optimistic Pistons' fans believe that the team around Rip Hamilton could make it back to the playoffs in this year's NBA campaign, Detroit's performance did not support this theory so far. Having posted a 0-3 record so far, the Pistons will have to play much better basketball to avoid a year at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Thus, the Detroit Pistons will meet Gerald Wallace and the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday at 11:30 p.m. GMT.

Where as the Pistons' slow start into the season was somewhat expected, Charlotte's defensive struggles in the first week of play were rather unforeseen. More specifically, Stephen Jackson and company gave up 101 points per contest which ultimately resulted in three consecutive losses versus the Mavericks, Pacers and Bucks. That said, one positive factor has been the play of D.J. Augustin who appears to be comfortable playing as starting point guard and averaged 17.0 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds so far. Yet, there appears to be no doubt that the Bobcats will have to elevate their defensive efforts to their normal standard in order to avoid a road loss in Detroit on Friday night.
