Although the Cavs got off to a great post-season start, the team around LeBron James is under a lot of pressure after dropping game two at home on Wednesday night. Thus, the Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping to bounce back when they take on Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. GMT.
Being surrounded by arguably the best supporting cast of the past decade, LeBron James is certainly hoping to win the championship ring he has been chasing over the past years. Yet, the Cavs already lost home-court advantage after a questionable performance in game two and a disappointing home loss versus the Celtics. That said, James has been playing extremely well despite a sore right elbow, putting up 31.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.7 steals per contest.
Boston on the other hand did not play particularly well in the regular season and finished just fourth in the Eastern Confernece. Nonetheless, Kevin Garnett and company were able to defeat the Miami Heat in just five games in the first round and are still one of the toughest veteran teams in the entire league. Ironically, Rajon Rondo, the youngest player on the team, has become the go-to guy for the franchise from Massachusetts as he averages no less than 16.3 points, 11.7 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in the post-season. Therefore, it appears to be a justified assumption that both teams could find themselves on a level playing field when the Celtics host the Cavaliers on Sunday night. Given the fact that Boston and Cleveland are both excellent defensive teams, exploiting mismatches could be come a decisive factor down the stretch.

Albeit the Cleveland Cavaliers still lead the Western Conference ahead of the Orlando Magic, their three-game losing streak after the All-Star break was still somewhat disappointing. Thus, the Cleveland Cavaliers will try to get back on track when they face Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden on Friday at 1 a.m. GMT.
Much like the Cavs, the Celtics have not been playing particularly well as of late either. More specifically, Boston won just 6 of their last 10 and did not look like the contender they would like to be. Most importantly, Kevin Garnett and company might have to improve offensively as they managed to crack the 100-point mark just once in their last seven games. Even though All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo is having a great year and Rasheed Wallace turned out to be a solid off-season acquisition it appears to be questionable whether the Celtics will be able to compete for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference down the stretch.
In contrast, Cleveland is in an excellent position to make a run for a championship as they are holding on to the first place in the East, posting an excellent 43-14 record. Moreover, the Cavaliers were able to acquire former All-Star Antawn Jamison from the Washington Wizards in exchange for expiring contracts which should take some pressure off franchise cornerstone LeBron James to single handedly carry the franchise night in and night out. That said, James is still the primary force behind the Cavs' success as he put up 30.0 points, 8.4 assists, 7.1 rebounds and and 1.6 steals in 39 minutes per contest. Taking said circumstances into account, the Cavaliers appear to have an edge over the Celtics but will most likely have to play up to their full potential to steal one on the road in Boston. Either way, fans around the league can expect an excellent ball game when two of the better teams in the Eastern Conference face each other on Friday night.
