Having been humiliated by former franchise centerpiece LeBron James on national TV this summer when he announced his departure from Cleveland, the Cavs are entering an uncertain future. Unlike Mo Williams and company, the Mavs are fairly confident that they have the talent to compete with the Lakers for the Western Conference crown down the stretch. However, Dallas' early playoff exits over the past three years raises some questions regarding the Mavericks' competitiveness in the post-season. More specifically, guards Jason Terry and Jason Kidd are both past their prime and often find themselves in unfavorable matchups versus quicker guards. Similarly, once the game slows down in the playoffs, the Mavs' up-tempo basketball becomes less efficient, increasing the pressure on Dirk Nowitzki to single handedly carry the team in half-court sets. Either way, the Mavericks are the undisputed favorites to secure a win at home when they play the Cavs on Tuesday night.
