Given the fact that the Suns are three games behind the eight seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the West, their triple overtime loss to the L.A. Lakers was certainly a setback earlier this week. Looking to bounce back with a victory, Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns will host the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday at 3:30 a.m. GMT.

Albeit the Mavs dropped to the third place last week, the team around Dirk Nowitzki is still in a head-to-head race with the Los Angeles Lakers for the second seed in the Western Conference. Hanging on to a 49-21 record, Dallas is well on its way to the 11^th straight 50+ win season and is hoping to finally make some noise in the post-season after several first and second round exits over the past few years. In fact, the Mavericks are confident to compete for a title down the stretch, especially with the recent play of Rodrigue Beaubois. More precisely, the 6-2 combo guard has been averaging 10.3 points, 2.7 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals despite playing less than 20 minutes per game. Therefore, Dallas could very well come away with a road win when they meet the Suns on Sunday.

While the Mavs are waiting for sophomore guard Rodrigue Beaubois to recover from a foot injury, coach Rick Carlisle gave rookie Dominique Jones plenty of playing time in Dallas' preseason games so far. Likewise, recently added backup center Tyson Chandler showed his athleticism versus the Wizards last Tuesday and can be expected to help the Mavericks to another 50+ win season. Continuing their preparations for the new season, Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks will face the Phoenix Suns on Sunday at 01:30 a.m. GMT.

Despite a trip to the Western Conference Finals the Suns ended up losing Amar'e Stoudemire in free agency and are heading to the upcoming NBA campaign with a slightly changed roster. Most importantly, the franchise from Arizona replaced Amar'e Stoudemire by Hedo Turkoglu from the Toronto Raptors who they acquired in exchange for Leandro Barbosa. Similarly, Phoenix also added swingman Josh Childress and Hakim Warrick to provide more scoring off the bench. That said the Suns have yet to show that they can play well together on the floor as they experienced a 30-point blowout loss in their first preseason game versus Toronto. Nonetheless, basketball fans around the world can expect a very entertaining ball game when two teams who like to push the ball in transition face each other on Sunday night.

Even though the Suns got off to a great start, they evidently hit a slump as of late, dropping six of their last ten games. Hoping to stay in the playoff mix, Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns will take on the Dallas Mavericks on Friday at 3:30 a.m. GMT.

Much like Phoenix, Dallas also slowed down a bit recently and fell to the third place in the Western Conference last week. However, former MVP Dirk Nowitzki and company bounced back with their biggest win in franchise history, a 50-point blowout versus the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon. Likewise, it should be noted that the Mavs experienced an unfavorable schedule as they had to play a lot of road games up to this point. That said, Dallas’ role players might have to step up and perform more consistently if the Mavericks want to become a legitimate candidate for a Conference Finals appearance. After all, coach Rick Carlisle squad lost quite a few games despite franchise cornerstone Dirk Nowitzki putting up big numbers. So far, Nowitzki has been averaging 25.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocks in 38 minutes per contest.

In contrast, very few expected the Suns to play particularly well in this year’s NBA campaign. More specifically, Phoenix failed to make it to the post-season last year and traded Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers during the off-season. Yet, the team around Amar’e Stoudemire evidently fits well together and has been playing spectacular up-tempo basketball night in and night out. Albeit their defense has been mediocre at best, Nash and Stoudemire managed to carry the franchise from Arizona to a solid 26-19 record. Taking everything into account, fans around the league can expect a fast-paced ball game between two fairly even teams on Friday night. The Mavs might have a slight advantage defensively, but will have to bring their A-Game to avoid a loss at US Airways Center.
