Having lost five straight and nine of their last ten games, the Kings evidently hit a slump after a relatively decent start into this year’s NBA campaign. Most importantly, the team around Tyreke Evans struggled to put up some points and ranks at the bottom of the league at just 94.3 per game. Thus, the Sacramento Kings will try to stop their losing skid when they host Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday at 3 a.m. GMT.
Unlike Sacramento, the Mavs are very excited with their performance up to this point and are the second best team in the entire league, posting a 14-4 record. Especially the acquisition of Tyson Chandler paid dividends, as the physical center has been averaging 9.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in just 27 minutes per night. Likewise, former sixth man of the year Jason Terry did a good job providing Rick Carlisle’s squad with a spark off the bench and put up 15.8 points, 4.8 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest. Considering the way Dallas has been playing over the last weeks, there appears to be no doubt that Dirk Nowitzki and company will be everyone’s favorites on Sunday night.

Unlike most fans around the league expected, Sacramento did not play nearly as bad as one might have thought after they finished at the bottom of the league in 2008-09. Hoping to hold on to their positive momentum, the Sacramento Kings will take on Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday at 3 a.m. GMT.
Without any doubts, the Mavs received their faire share of criticism over the last years due to their aging stars, lack of defense and inability to deliver in the post-season. However, Dallas Mavericks looks much better in this year’s NBA campaign and could be a legitimate contender down the stretch. Posting a 22-9 record in the first two month of play, the team around Dirk Nowitzki is holding on to the second place in the Western Conference, trailing the Lakers by three games. Most importantly, Rick Carlisle’s squad finally performed on the defensive end of the floor and limited their opponents to just 43.7% shooting from the floor. Likewise, the addition of former All-Star Shawn Marion paid tremendous dividends as he provides an excellent match-up for opposing wing players and consistently gets on the offensive glass.
Similarly, the Kings were underrated as well before the 2009-10 season got underway. Moreover, they appeared to be a safe bet for another year in the lottery when they lost franchise cornerstone Kevin Martin after one week of action. Yet, rookie Tyreke Evans stepped up in Martin’s absence and led the franchise from California to a respectable 14-16 record. Competing with Milwaukee’s Brandon Jennings for the rookie of the year award, Evans was able to up 20.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals in 37 minutes per contest. That said, Sacramento evidently lacks solid team defense as they allowed a whopping 105 points per game. Taking said circumstances into account, the Mavs will enter their encounter with the Kings as favorites to come away with a win on Sunday night. Nonetheless, Jason Kidd and company better not underestimate the young team from Sacramento. Albeit inconsistent at times, the Kings have shown that they can compete with anyone in the league on a good night.
