Albeit the Jazz did experience some problems in the first two weeks of action, the team around Deron Williams subsequently elevated its level of play and won eight of the last ten games. Thus, the Utah Jazz will try to extend their winning streak when they take on Caron Butler and the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday at 3:30 a.m. GMT.
Having won five games in seven nights, Mavs’ fans are extremely content with the performance of their team early in this year’s NBA campaign. In fact, Dallas quietly made its way to the second place in the Western Conference, posting a 13-4 record in the first month of regular season play. Whereas Dirk Nowitzki’s dominant play at the offensive end of the floor is no surprise at all, the Mavericks’ role players also stepped up and efficiently carried out Dallas’ game-plan night in and night out. Similarly, coach Rick Carlisle’s squad has been one of the best defensive teams in the NBA and gave up just 92 points per contest so far. Considering the way the Jazz and Mavs have been playing as of late, fans around the league can look forward to an exciting match-up between two excellent teams on Saturday night.

Albeit the Jazz struggled a bit in the first two months of play, the team around Deron Williams managed to make it back to the upper echelon of the Western Conference with an impressive 8-2 run in January. Hoping to clinch another win, the Utah Jazz will host Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks at EnergySolutions Arena on Tuesday at 2 a.m. GMT.
After winning only five of their last ten games, the pressure on the Mavericks to get back on track has certainly been increasing over the last month. Especially the surprising losses versus the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers raised some questions regarding the Mavs’ ability to sustain a high level of play throughout the season. That said, Dallas still leads the tough Southwest Division with an excellent 30-16 record, yet it should be mentioned that they might have to improve down the stretch to become a legitimate title contender. Offensively, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry are still the heart and soul of Rick Carlisle’s squad as they average 25.1 and 16.5 points per game respectively.
The Utah Jazz on the other hand have evidently elevated their game as of late and did not only make it back to the playoff mix, but climbed all the way to the fourth place in the Western Conference. Posting a 27-18 record, Utah was able to tighten its defense considerably over the past few weeks and could very well stay in the race for home-court advantage down the stretch. Like in the past, point guard Deron Williams has been phenomenal and put up no less than 19.0 points, 9.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals per contest. Thus, fans around the league can expect a contested game between two fairly even teams on Tuesday night. While Utah might have some trouble containing Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavs’ guards around Jason Kidd will most likely encounter similar problems with Deron Williams.
