Losing eight of their last ten games, the Pistons are under significant pressure to bounce back and make a run to stay in the playoff race. Thus, Ben Gordon and the Pistons will host the Denver Nuggets on Friday at 0:30 a.m. GMT.

Before this year’s NBA campaign got underway, the Pistons’ front-office was confident that their off-season acquisitions would pay dividends and lead the franchise from Michigan back to home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference. Yet, Detroit Pistons only managed to win 7 out of 19 to start the season and had a surprisingly tough time scoring the basketball. In fact, coach John Kuester’s squad only put up 93 points per contest and failed to show any measurable improvements thus far. That being said, it should be noted that the team is still without All-Star Rip Hamilton who remains sidelined with an ankle injury. In his absence, recently acquired shooting guard Ben Gordon led the Pistons with 19.5 points, 3.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game.

The Denver Nuggets on the other hand are very content with their performance in the opening month of the season. Being tied for the second place in the competitive Western Conference, Carmello Anthony and company got off to a good start as they rallied to a solid 15-5 record. Especially at the offensive end of the floor George Karl’s squad played extremely well and is among the best offensive teams in the league with 111 points per contest so far. A big part of said offensive outburst has been All-Star Carmello Anthony who is averaging career numbers at 30.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals per contest. Likewise, rookies Ty Lawson and Arron Afflalo provided Denver with a lift off the bench and combined for nearly 18 points a night. Taking everything into account, it looks like the Nuggets will enter their encounter with the Pistons as everyone’s favorites to secure a win at Auburn Hills. Albeit Detroit might be a solid defensive team, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to put up enough points to avoid being steamrolled by the Nuggets’ offense around Chauncey Billups, Carmello Anthony and J.R. Smith.
