Putting up 38 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists King James led Cleveland to a fairly uncontested 102-84 home win.

However, the problems for the Pistons are not solely to be found around Lebron. The combination of their struggling shooting and excellent Cavaliers team defense often leads to Detroit going through long offensive draughts. It is true that championships are won by playing solid defense, but if Detroit barely manages to get 82 points on the scoreboard they cannot expect to advance. Especially Tayshaun Prince who was expected to set the tone for the Pistons offense along with Rick Hamilton will have to perform significantly better in game two. With a meager 4-point performance on Saturday he did not gave Detroit the lift they were hoping for.

Cleveland on the other hand is in an excellent position for the second game at Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday at 1 a.m. GMT. Holding an impressive 40-2 home record this year they have proven to be the toughest team in the league in their own building. In particular the pickups of Mo Williams and Joe Smith have provided new offensive options for the Cavs, as well as some much needed veteran leadership. Even though there is no question about the potential MVP candidate James, Cleveland has become a team which plays unselfishly, moves the ball well and keeps the energy level high on the other end of the floor.
