More specifically, Monta Ellis and company got off to a great start as they posted a 7-4 record to establish themselves in the playoff mix right away. Even though Golden State is still not among the elite defensive teams, coach Keith Smart's squad improved drastically compared to their heartless efforts last year. Likewise, Monta Ellis has continued to dominate at the offensive end of the floor, averaging 26.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. While Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and David Lee have been playing solid basketball, most of Golden State's rotation is still up in the air. Thus, the Golden State Warriors will try to clinch a road win versus Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday at 2 a.m. GMT.

Without any doubts, the Lakers' performance in the preseason has been fairly disappointing so far as the team around Kobe Bryant lost 3 out of 5 games. That said, one should take into account that coach Phil Jackson knows exactly what his veterans are capable of and saw no need to play his starters heavy minutes. In this sense, the Lakers' second unit did a fairly decent job and off-season additions Matt Barnes and Steve Blake had plenty of time to familiarize themselves with Los Angeles' triangle offense.
