Whereas the Warriors played some solid basketball early in the season, Golden State has been struggling to keep up their level of play as the team around Monta Ellis won just 2 of their last 14 games. Facing another struggling franchise, the Golden State Warriors will visit Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers at Rose Garden on Sunday at 3 a.m. GMT.
Without any doubts, the Blazers were hoping for a much better start into the season as Brandon Roy and company failed to play up to their potential. Most importantly, their offense has been rather stagnant and relied too heavily on inconsistent jump shooting from the perimeter. In fact, Portland put up just 94.1 points per contest which frequently resulted in disappointing losses. Likewise, franchise cornerstone Brandon Roy lost much of his explosiveness due to various knee injuries and is not the impact player he used to be. Hoping to make some progress down the stretch, the Trail Blazers will try to get a much needed win when they face the Warriors on Sunday night.

Albeit the Blazers started the preseason with a 30-point blowout win versus the Los Angeles Clippers, the team around Brandon Roy subsequently lost three games in a row. Yet, there were also some positive aspects as off-season acquisition Wesley Matthews seems to be a great fit in Portland and put up 15.5 points, 3.3 rebound and 2.5 assists in just 24 minutes per game. Highly motivated to clinch a win at home, Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers will face the Golden State Warriors at Rose Garden on Sunday at 2 a.m. GMT.
Even though the Warriors only lost one preseason game so far, Monta Ellis and company still have a long way to go before seriously thinking about competing for a playoff berth in the Western Conference. After all, the franchise from the Bay Area is still in rebuilding mode and seems to lack the depth and defensive intensity to be a team above the .500 mark. That said, acquiring All-Star David Lee seems to be a step into the right direction and Golden State's back-court around Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry could have a bright future. Looking to continue experimenting with different lineups, the Warriors will try to give the Blazers a run for their money on Sunday night.
