Considering that the Kings opted to blow up their team and start rebuilding during the off-season, it is no surprise that they did not get off to a great start in this year’s NBA campaign. Nonetheless, Kevin Martin and the Kings are hoping to clinch their second win of the season when they host the Golden State Warriors on Monday at 2 a.m. GMT.

Similarly, the Golden State Warriors are not overly content with their performance in the first week of action either. More specifically, the Warriors started the season with two straight losses versus the Rockets and Suns before clinching their first win versus Allen Iverson and the Grizzlies at home. Much like in the past, Golden State’s up-tempo basketball led to countless defensive breakdowns as they allowed their opponents to score 112 points per game. One bright spot thus far has been the performance of Monta Ellis who put up 23.0 points, 6.7 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals. Similarly, rookie Stephen Curry showed that he will be a player to watch out for, averaging 11.0 points, 6.7 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals in his first three NBA games.

The Sacramento Kings on the other hand lost four out of five to start the season and were outplayed as badly as most experts anticipated. Given the fact that their squad lacks any depth, the injury of Francisco Garcia inevitably caused even more problems for the franchise from Northern California. While the Kings’ performance has been nothing to be excited about, rookie Tyreke Evans immediately made an impact with 11.2 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per contest. Considering the situation of both teams, the Golden State Warriors appear to have a slight edge over the struggling Kings. That being said, Sacramento might be able to give the Warriors a run for their money if they can bring some defensive energy and exploit Golden State’s defensive weaknesses when the game gets underway on Monday night.
