Having won seven of their last nine games, the Clippers raised their level of play dramatically as Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon led the team offensively. Thus, the Los Angeles Clippers are confident to keep rolling when they face Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. GMT.
While Dallas was generally regarded a legitimate championship contender early in the season, the season-ending injury of former All-Star Caron Butler and the subsequent losing streak led to a lot of trade rumors in Northern Texas. More specifically, the Mavs’ front-office acknowledged that Dirk Nowitzki and company lack another go-to-guy as they continue to struggle at the offensive end of the floor. Even though the Mavericks are coming off a win versus the Nets, there appears to be no doubt that Marc Cuban is looking to deal some combination of the team’s ending contracts in exchange for an offensive minded impact player. That said, Dallas’ encounter with the Clippers on Wednesday will be no easy match-up as the team around Blake Griffin has been on fire as of late.

Even though the Clippers were hoping to finally make it back to the post season in 2009-10, the squad of Mike Dunleavy once again failed to deliver. Thus, the Los Angeles Clippers will try to dodge another bullet when they travel to Dallas to face Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center on Wednesday at 0:30 a.m. GMT.
Albeit some experts had their doubts whether the Mavs could really be considered a championship contender prior to the season, the team around veteran point guard Jason Kidd has shown that they can play as well as anyone on a good night. More precisely, the Mavs are tied with the Denver Nuggets for the second place in the competitive Western Conference, posting an excellent 46-22 record. But even more importantly, Dallas has won 13 out of 15 since acquiring Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood at the trade deadline. Likewise, rookie Rodrigue Beaubois has been phenomenal as of late and put up no less than 18 points per contest over the past two weeks, filling in for the injured Jason Terry. Needless to say that nine-time All-Star Dirk Nowitzki is still the heart and soul of the team, averaging 25.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.
The Clippers on the other hand experienced another disappointing season as they are holding on to a mediocre 26-43 record and are already out of the playoff race. That said, it should be noted that L.A. lost number one overall pick Blake Griffin to a lengthy knee injury and made a questionable trade that shipped out veteran center Marcus Camby for nothing else than cap relief. One bright spot has been Chris Kaman who made his first All-Star appearance this year and put up 18.8 points and 9.1 rebounds a night. Considering said issues, there is no doubt that the Mavericks will enter their encounter with the Clippers as everyone's favorites to come away with another win at home. Ultimately, L.A. cannot compete at either end of the floor with the Mavs who have been nearly unstoppable as of late.
