With Carlos Boozer finally back on the floor, the Bulls are confident to build on their solid 11-8 record and secure home-court advantage down the stretch. Looking for their third straight win, the Chicago Bulls will host Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday at 1 a.m. GMT.
Even though the Lakers posted a tremendous 14-6 record to start the season, the franchise from California is not completely satisfied with its performance up to this point. More specifically, Los Angeles is only fourth in the Western Conference which does not quite match the goal of defending their NBA title for the third consecutive time in 2010-11. That being said, there is plenty of time for Kobe Bryant and company to make a run and re-establish themselves at the top of the league. One key factor to make a leap could be Andrew Bynum who is still sidelined by an injury, forcing head coach Phil Jackson to start Pau Gasol at the center position. Therefore, the Bulls will most likely have a tough time avoiding a home loss when the Lakers are in Illinois on Saturday.

Albeit the Bulls played fairly well in the opening weeks of this year’s NBA campaign, Derrick Rose and company could not keep up their effort and dropped 9 out of their last 10 games. Thus, the Bulls will make their way to Los Angeles to face Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at Staples Center on Wednesday at 1 a.m. GMT.
Unlike Chicago, the Lakers’ front-office is very content with the performance of Phil Jackson’s squad thus far. Leading the Western Conference with an impressive 17-3 record, Los Angeles Lakers has been nearly unstoppable as they underlined their championship ambitions. In fact, the Lakers remain undefeated since Spanish All-Star Pau Gasol returned to the floor and turned out to be a substantial part of their current 10-game winning streak. Playing 33 minutes per game, Gasol was able to put up 17.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists. That said, it should be noted that the team around Kobe Bryant played 16 out of 20 at home.
In contrast, the Chicago Bulls would be more than happy if they somehow managed to make it to the playoffs. In the first six weeks of play, Chicago did not look like a team bound for the post-season, primarily due to their lack of consistent scoring. More precisely, Vinny del Negro’s squad only averages 90 points per contest and found itself being outscored more often than not so far. Obviously, the departure of Ben Gordon left a hole in the Bulls’ first unit that has not been filled yet. However, one positive surprise has been the performance of forward Luol Deng who leads Chicago with 17.3 points, 8.1 boards and 1.7 assists. Considering the situation of both teams, the Lakers appear to be everyone’s favorite to clinch another home-win at Staples Center on Wednesday night. Ultimately, the young Bulls team is nowhere near the level of play Kobe Bryant and company have showcased and will have to pray for a miracle to avoid their fifth consecutive loss.
