Albeit the Spurs experienced their fair share of struggles early in the season, Tony Parker and company appear to have found their rhythm and are well on their way to the upper echelon of the Western Conference. Looking for another win, Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs will host the Los Angeles Lakers at AT&T Center on Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. GMT.

Even though the Lakers had a favorable schedule in the first two months of play, there is no doubt that they will once again be among the title contenders in this year’s NBA campaign. Leading the Western Conference with a 28-7 record, Kobe Bryant and company have dominated their opponents more often than not and look like a safe bet for the number one playoff seed down the stretch. Moreover, the addition of Ron Artest gave Phil Jackson’s squad another hard-nosed defender who has no trouble finding the basket on the other end of the floor. Likewise, All-Star forward Pau Gasol has been phenomenal so far, putting up 16.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 blocks per contest.

The Spurs on the other hand did not play quite as well as most expected, yet they were able to improve considerably after coming slow out of the gates. In fact, San Antonio managed to win eight of their last ten and finds itself right in the race for home-court advantage. One important factor in their recent upswing has been former All-Star Manu Ginobili who is back in shape after a season ending ankle injury last year. Offensively, franchise cornerstone Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 19.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. Considering the talent level and outstanding defense of both teams, things might be more difficult for the Lakers on Wednesday night. After all, the Spurs can count on a very deep bench that should be able to give L.A.’s second unit a run for its money. Thus, fans around the league can look forward to an exciting ball game between two of the better teams in the Western Conference at AT&T Center.
