Albeit many fans around the league consider the Thunder an emerging powerhouse in the Western Conference, the team around Kevin Durant has yet to live up to everyone's expectations as they posted a mediocre 4-3 record in the first three weeks of play. Thus, the Oklahoma City Thunder will try to secure an import road win versus Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz on Tuesday at 2 a.m. GMT.

While some had their doubts whether Paul Millsap would be able to replace Carlos Boozer, Utah's performance so far indicates that the Jazz will be just as competitive as they were in recent years. More precisely, coach Jerry Sloan's squad climbed to a 5-3 record after two impressive road wins versus the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat. Leading all scores is Paul Millsap as he put up 23.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest. Likewise, Deron Williams continues being one of the best point guards in the entire league and has been averaging no less than 21.5 points, 10.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. For the reasons mentioned above, it looks like Kevin Durant and company will have to pull off an excellent performance to avoid a loss versus the Jazz on Tuesday night.

Considering Utah's mediocre performance last year and the sub par start into this year's campaign, it is certainly a surprise that the team around Deron Williams is still in the race for the second playoff seed in the Western Conference. Hoping to clinch another win, the Utah Jazz will take on Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder at Energy Solutions Arena on Wednesday at 1 a.m. GMT.

Much like the Jazz, the Thunder also surprised many experts around the league with their performance up to this point. More precisely, Oklahoma is holding on to the sixth place in the Western Conference and could very well climb all the way to the second place if they keep up their high level of play in the remaining two weeks of action. Most importantly, the young team from Oklahoma managed to mature over the past two years and can count on an excellent core around Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook for years to come. Among the best scorers in the entire league, Durant averages no less than 29.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.

Utah on the other hand has their fare share of veteran players who showed countless times that they can deliver in contested ball games. Still the heart and soul of the franchise, Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams have led Jerry Sloan's squad all year long and are hoping for a more successful post-season appearance in 2009-10 than last year. Being tied with the Dallas Mavericks for the second place in the West, the Jazz are eyeballing their fourth straight win when the Thunder are in town. That said, the audience can expect a highly contested game between two fairly even teams on Wednesday night. Where as the Jazz might have a slight advantage at the offensive end of the floor, the Thunder's tight defense could very well be a decisive factor.
