Leading the Eastern Conference after one month of play, Orlando’s off-season moves seem to be paying dividends. Thus, the Magic will host Chris Kaman and the Los Angeles Clippers at Amway Arena on Wednesday at 1 a.m. GMT.

Albeit the Magic had to play the first ten games without All-Star Rashard Lewis, Dwight Howard and company still managed to establish themselves right at the top of the Conference. In fact, Orlando won 9 out their last 10 and is still in the process of integrating new players. Especially Vince Carter looks like an excellent fit and leads the team with 19.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 32 minutes per game. Likewise, Dwight Howard has been dominant in the paint, averaging 18.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per contest. That said, Stan van Gundy squad also performed well at the other end of the floor and held their opponents to just 94 points.

The Los Angeles Clippers on the other hand got off to a slow start but seem to be on their way back to the playoff race. Winning four of their last six games, the Clippers are approaching the .500 mark with an 8-11 record. Unfortunately, number one draft pick Blake Griffin is still sidelined with a knee injury and will most likely not return to the floor before January. Despite his absence, Mike Dunelavy’s squad could have won significantly more games as the Clippers often failed to close out games and blew big leads. Possibly on his way to an All-Star appearance is starting center Chris Kaman who put up 19.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks per contest. However, despite these positive aspects, the Clippers will still enter their encounter with the Magic as underdogs to steal one on the road. After all, Orlando Magic has as much individual talent as anyone in the league and performed very well at both ends of the floor thus far.
