Sacramento Kings v Memphis Grizzlies Live
Despite reoccurring trade rumors surrounding Andres Nocioni and the Kings, the team of coach Paul Westphal got off to a surprisingly decent start. Hoping to clinch their sixth win of the season, Tyreke Evans and the Sacramento Kings will travel to Memphis Grizzlies to take on the struggling Grizzlies on Tuesday at 1 a.m. GMT.
Much like the Kings, the Grizzlies experienced their fair share of trouble off the court. More specifically, the disgruntled Allen Iverson decided to leave the team after appearing in no more than three games. Apparently, A.I. is not happy with his role off the bench and has no motivation to work his way back into the starting lineup. While it remains to be seen whether Iverson will end his career or look for another contract, Memphis has to focus on their own problems. Posting a miserable 2-8 record to start the season, the overhauled Grizzlies will have to try to get back on track as soon as possible. Most importantly, Lionel Hollins squad has to improve significantly at the defensive end of the floor to start winning some games. In fact, the Grizzlies allowed 109 points per game which has been the overarching issue in the first three weeks of action. That said, recently acquired forward Zach Randolph appears to be a decent pickup as he put up 17.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest.
In contrast, the Sacramento Kings performed surprisingly well so far and did not seem as lost as many experts had predicted. Even though the Kings decided to start rebuilding during the off-season, they immediately felt the impact of fourth overall pick Tyreke Evans who averages 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Likewise, Kevin Martin posted an impressive stats line consisting of 30.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. That said, Martin suffered a fracture in his wrist and will be out for approximately two months. Unfortunately for the Kings, it appears to be rather unlikely that Sacramento’s thin bench could compensate for the loss of the franchise’s centerpiece. Therefore, the struggling Grizzlies might have a slight edge over the revamped Kings in terms of talent. However, talent alone will not be enough unless Rudy Gay and company finally start to play defense and facilitate more ball movement at the other end of the floor.
