Thursday 3rd March 01:00 - 03:30 GMT

Sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just 11 wins in 59 games, the Cavs are evidently bound for a year in the lottery. Nonetheless, the Cleveland Cavaliers will do their best to make life difficult for Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs when the game gets underway on Thursday at midnight GMT.

While the rest of the Western Conference is still waiting for the Spurs to slow down, the veteran team around Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan just keeps rolling. Holding on to a 49-10 record, San Antonio has been dominating its opponents night in and night out, averaging a whopping 103 points per contest. Likewise, the Spurs can be expected to enter the post-season well rested as coach Greg Popovich did not have to play Duncan, Ginobili or Parker heavy minutes up to this point. Given the fact that San Antonio is one of the elite teams at both ends of the floor, they should be able to get a win in Cleveland on Thursday night.

With LeBron James having moved on to Miami, the Cavs will most likely have a tough time making it to the post-season in the upcoming NBA campaign. After all, Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison might be solid secondary options, yet it appears to be unlikely that they will be able to even remotely fill the hole that James' departure left in the Cavaliers' offense. Thus, the Cleveland Cavaliers will try to avoid a loss at home when they meet Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at 11:30 p.m. GMT.

After opening the preseason with a loss to the Houston Rockets, the Spurs managed to bounce back with a convincing 90-73 win versus LeBron James and the Miami Heat on Sunday. While the strong performance of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker were no surprise, some of San Antonio's role players were able to demonstrate that they might deserve extended playing time in 2010-11. Most importantly, rookie forward James Anderson showed some nice low post moves where as big man Marcus Cousins surprised many fans with his dominance on the offensive glass. Likewise, Kirk Penney showed that he is a reliable shooter from beyond the arc, although it remains to be seen whether he will eventually make the team or not. Considering the way the Spurs have played so far, there is no doubt that Tim Duncan and company will enter their encounter with the Cleveland Cavaliers as favorites to secure a road win on Thursday night.
