Much like the Toronto Raptors, the Suns also experienced a significant setback when franchise cornerstone Amar'e Stoudemire decided to sign a five-year deal in New York. However, Phoenix managed to acquire Hedo Turkoglu to bring in some more scoring and is confident that the team will have another successful year in 2010-11. Thus, Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns will take on the Toronto Raptors on Thursday at 2 a.m. GMT.

In contrast, the Raptors did not try to acquire another star player but instead decided to build a team around their young core of Demar DeRozan, Sonny Weems and first round pick Ed Davis. Likewise, Andrea Bargnani can be expected to become the Raps' new go-to-guy and leading scorer in the upcoming NBA campaign. However, while Jose Calderon and Jarrett Jack are one of the better point guard tandems in the league, it remains to be seen whether Toronto will be able to fill the hole that Chris Bosh's departure left. Considering the situation of both teams, there appears to be no doubt that the Suns are the better overall team and will most likely be able to come away victorious if they play up to their potential.

Losing two straight on the road, the pressure on Jay Triano’s squad is rising as the Raptors’ front-office and fan base had high expectations before the season tipped off. Thus, Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors will travel to Arizona to take on the Phoenix Suns on Monday at 1 a.m. GMT.

Posting an impressive 7-1 record to start the season, the Phoenix Suns find themselves at the top of the Western Conference and seem dedicated to keep up their surprisingly high level of play. After missing the playoffs last year, the overhauled squad of Alvin Gentry appears to fit perfectly together as their offense has been unstoppable so far. More precisely, Phoenix averages 111 points per contest and will most likely be a tough challenge for any team provided they stay healthy. While Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash were expected to put up big numbers, starting center Channing Frye surprised many experts with his performance thus far. Largely considered as a player at the end of the bench, Frye averaged 13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in the first two weeks of play.

The Toronto Raptors on the other hand are holding on to a mediocre 3-4 record and continue to struggle during their seven-game road trip. Although the team around All-Star Chris Bosh had no trouble finding the basket at 109 points per game, their supposedly improved defense looked pretty terrible so far. Especially the losses versus the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs underlined said problem as they allowed their opponents to score 129 and 131 points respectively. That said, the performance of Andrea Bargnani has been a positive surprise as the Italian forward-center continued to elevate his game, putting up 20.1 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 48% from beyond the arc.

Taking everything into consideration, the audience can expect a highly entertaining basketball game when the Raptors and Suns meet in Phoenix. Neither team plays particularly well at the defensive end of the floor which should guarantee a high-scoring match with plenty of highlights. Albeit the Suns might have the better record, Toronto could very well be able to stay within striking distance if Chris Bosh and company play up to their potential.
