Utah Jazz v Cleveland Cavaliers Live
Coming slow out of the gates, the Cleveland Cavaliers are still struggling to find their rhythm offensively two weeks into the season. Thus, LeBron James and the Cavs will take on the Utah Jazz at Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday at 0:30 a.m. GMT.
Although Cleveland entered this year’s NBA campaign with hopes to make a run at the championship, they have yet to play up to their potential. Only winning four out of seven so far, the Cavs did not look nearly as dominant as they were in 2008-09. Most importantly, the losses versus the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls raised some questions regarding the Cavaliers’ offense. In fact, Cleveland averages just 95 points per game despite adding more offensive firing power over the summer. That said, getting used to Shaquille O’Neal clogging up the lane might take a while but cannot fully account for the Cavs’ offensive struggles. Nonetheless, reigning MVP LeBron James put up an impressive stats line in the first two weeks of action, averaging 26.3 points, 8.0 assists, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per contest.
Much like Cleveland, the Utah Jazz did not get off to a good start either. Posting a mediocre 3-4 record to start the season, coach Jerry Sloan’s squad still looks out of sync, even though the Jazz did not undergo any significant changes during the off-season. In fact, the franchise from Salt Lake City has a healthy team for once, yet Deron Williams and company had problems keeping up with their competitors in the Western Conference. Offensively, Deron Williams led all scores for the Jazz as he put up 21.4 points, 10.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game. Likewise, Carlos Boozer has fully recovered from his knee injury and averaged 16.7 points, 11.6 boards and 3.0 assists thus far. Taking both teams’ issues into account, the Jazz and Cavaliers could find themselves on a level playing field when the game gets underway on Sunday night. While Deron Williams will most likely take advantage of the smaller Mo Williams, containing LeBron James could be an issue for Andrei Kirilenko. Ultimately, both teams will be looking to exploit favorable match-ups and could stay within each others striking distance until late in the fourth quarter.
