Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Lakers Live
Coming off a tough loss in game one, the Utah Jazz are making their second post-season appearance at Staples Center on Tuesday at 3:30 GMT. Some might say losing to the Lakers 100-113 on the road may not be such a bad result, but the score does not fully reflect the dominance Los Angeles had over the Jazz. After a run in the second quarter the Lakers never looked back and already had a 22 point lead at halftime.
Even though the Jazz came out of the locker room with a higher energy level and managed to cut down the lead to 9 twice, they never managed to come close enough to make the Lakers feel uncomfortable. Mehmet Okur who averages 17 points and 7.5 rebounds this season proved to be a significant loss for Utah, given his size in the low-post area and his ability to stretch out the Lakers defense with his 3-point shooting. His status remains uncertain and it will be once again a game time decision if he suits up for game two on Tuesday.
One positive aspect for the Utah Jazz was the fact that they seemed to have a significant edge over the Lakers on the offensive glass. Likewise, Carlos Boozer finished the game with a total of 27 points and 9 boards which gives Jerry Sloan’s team hope that he may finally have fully recovered from his injury. Nonetheless, they will have to play better defense and shoot drastically better than the 39 percent they put up in game one.
However, whether the Utah Jazz will be able to steal a game in Los Angeles Lakers still remains rather unlikely. Multiple all-star and future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant has shown in the past that he can single handedly beat any team if necessary, especially teams which have no defensive answer for him like the Jazz.
