However, there has been a heated debate about the game, mainly due to referee decisions which could have gone either way. Nonetheless, Boston came back from an 11-point deficit in the fourth and rallied to overtime after Ben Gordon missed the potential game winning shot at the end of regulation. In fact, it was already the third time in five games that it took five extra minutes to determine the winner.

Down 104-106, Bulls veteran Brad Miller drove to the basket with two seconds left when Rajon Rondo sent him to the deck bleeding with a hard foul. But the referees did not call a flagrant foul even though Rondo clearly hit Miller in the head and left the latter bleeding on the floor. Instead Brad Miller was only given the usual two free throws which he could not convert and thus the Celtics won another close game between these two competitive teams.

Rajon Rondo nearly achieved his third triple-double of the series, finishing the game with 28 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds. For the Bulls shooting guard Ben Gordon led the scoring with 26 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds despite his sore hamstring.
