After their third consecutive post-season loss versus the Nuggets there are many question marks surrounding the Dallas Mavericks. However, they will have to put these issues aside for the off-season and focus on their elimination game versus Denver Nuggets on Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. GMT

There was much discussion about the way game three was officiated, but ultimately the Mavericks will have to realize that they missed multiple opportunities to close out the game before it all came down to the last possession. Game three was close from the beginning to the last minute, but Dallas was leading throughout the fourth quarter and had a number of good looks at the basket which could have pulled them away from the trailing Nuggets. Instead, Dallas had a foul to give with 5 seconds remaining being up 104-102. When Antoine Wright was supposed to commit said foul no whistle went off and Carmello Anthony hit an open three point shot for a 105-104 Denver win.

All-star guard Chauncey Billups led the Nuggets with 32 points while Carmello Anthony managed to put up 31 points and pull down 8 rebounds. For the Mavericks on the other hand it was the usual Nowitzki show, finishing the game with 33 points, 16 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists while turning the ball over only once.

Although the Mavericks have shown that they can compete with the Nuggets, it appears to be hard to believe in a comeback in this series. Down 0-3, the team around Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry would certainly need a miracle to happen. Winning four straight games versus an excellent team like Nuggets is an unlikely scenario, not only for the Mavericks but also for even better teams. Nonetheless, Dallas can be expected to fight back in game four to at least avoid a humiliating sweep.
