Kings trade Nocioni for Samuel Dalembert
And trading him they did – however, not exactly to a contender. More precisely, Nocioni will make his way to Philadelphia along with center Spencer Hawes in exchange for Samuel Dalembert. While it appears to be a solid move for Sacramento who get rid of two relatively unmotivated players in exchange for a desperately needed center, Philly's intentions her are less obvious. More precisely, the 76ers are in fact taking on some salary as Nocioni is owed $21 million through 2012-13. Considering that the franchise was desperate enough last year to consider giving up franchise cornerstone Andre Iguodala in exchange for little more than some cap relief the moves appears to be somewhat contradictory. Moreover, the Sixers already have a logjam at both forward positions making it fairly unlikely that Nocioni will see a lot of playing time down the stretch. In 2009-10, the 6-7 forward averaged 8.5 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 39% from beyond the arc in just 20 minutes per game. While these numbers may not be particularly impressive one should keep in mind that the Argentine is an extremely hard-nosed defender and could bring some toughness to Philadelphia, provided he gets the playing time he is looking for.
