LeBron James getting ready for free agency
Firstly, James will obviously have to make the decision on whether to stay in Cleveland or not. After all, the 6-8 forward has led the franchise to the NBA Finals in 2007 as well as to finishing the regular season as best team in the Eastern Conference in 2009 and 2010. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers failed to win a title down the stretch which evidently was the ultimate goal. Albeit LeBron James struggled a bit in the Conference Semifinals versus the Boston Celtics this year, he has hardly been the problem, putting up no less than 29.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.7 steals per game in the 2009-10 playoffs.
Among possible destinations for the multiple All-Star are the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat. All three teams have enough cap space to sign him to a max. contract right away and provide some of the largest markets as far as advertising revenue is concerned. Where as Miami is certainly appealing, it remains to be seen whether LeBron would opt to play along Dwayne Wade to compete for a title or prefer to pick a team that would allow him to be the sole face of the franchise. Although the Knicks have plenty of cap space, New York has hardly any supporting cast that could provide James with the means to go for a championship run right away. Therefore, many experts reason that Chicago could be a very likely destination as Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah have shown over the past two years that they have yet to reach their prime and will most likely be All-Stars for the foreseeable future.
