Wizards win draft lottery
In contrast, the Nets are obviously very disappointed with the way things panned out on Wednesday, after all, New Jersey did finish the 2009-10 season with a devastating 12-70 record and was hoping to get back on track with the acquisition of a franchise player on draft night. Yet, things could very well improve next year, most importantly, the Nets do not only have the third overall pick but also plenty of cap room to be a major player in the 2010 free agent bonanza. Moreover, Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov acquired the Nets last week and can be expected to invest a significant amount of money into the franchise as he stated that he would bring a championship to New Jersey within the next five years.
As far as draft prospects are concerned, there is a general consensus that John Wall from Kentucky and Evan Turner from Ohio State will be the first and second pick respectively. However, after Turner and Wall there is a significant drop off as far as the level of talent available is concerned which could translate into draft picks being traded up and down as the respective value differences between the first ten picks is rather negligible.
