Cavs swap Telfair for Sessions

Sebastian TelfairWithout any doubts, the Cleveland Cavaliers were absolutely shocked when former franchise cornerstone LeBron James left Ohio to play in Miami together with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. To make things even worse, the Cavs' roster was entirely build around LeBron James in order to win now with little concerns regarding the teams' future, financially as well as on the floor.

After being fairly quiet in the first month of free agency, the Cavaliers have now begun to start looking forward and will eventually have to rebuild their roster. Two days ago, Cleveland's front-office announced that the T-Wolves and Cavs agreed on a trade that will send Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair to Minnesota while Ryan Hollins and Ramon Sessions will play for the Cavaliers in 2010-11. Moreover, the Cavs will also receive a future second round pick from Minnesota. Given the fact that Zydrunas Ilgauskas left Cleveland to join LeBron James in Miami and that Shaquille O'Neal is not expected to wear a Cavs uniform next year either, center Ryan Hollins could very well end up getting a considerable amount playing time down the stretch. Likewise, Ramon Sessions might also be a sound investment whether he will play together with combo-guard Mo Williams in the starting lineup or get backup minutes at the point guard position.

The Timberwolves on the other hand will most likely waive Delonte West to save some more cap space. More precisely, West has only $500 000 of his $4.7 million salary guaranteed next year and appears to be bound to become a free agent within the next few weeks. In contrast, Sebastian Telfair will probably split minutes at the point guard position with Luke Ridnour as Jonny Flynn might miss up to three months of action due to a hip injury.
