The KIA Motors Most Improved Player Award is an annual ceremony to honor the player which showed the most significant improvement over the year. Granger led the voting with 364 out of 605 points, followed by New Jersey Nets guard Devin Harris who had 339. Averaging 25.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game Granger proved to be one of the most reliable scorers in the league. Even though Devin Harris also managed to improve his scoring average by more than five points per game, Granger’s nomination is widely accepted as an appropriate choice. Likewise, he shot an excellent 40.4% from beyond the arc on 182 total three pointers made this year. However, he did not only set a new career high but also made it to the NBA All-Star game for the first time in his career. His all-star appearance becomes even more remarkable when one takes the rather disappointing performance of his team into account. The Indiana Pacers finished the regular season with a 36-46 record and missed the playoffs for the third straight time. The fact that all-star invitations are primarily given to players on winning teams underlines the impact Danny Granger had this year.
