Warriors roster overhaul almost complete
In this sense, acquiring David Lee from the New York Knicks can be seen as a step into the right direction as nearly every successful NBA franchise is built around at least one legitimate superstar. However, it should also be mentioned that letting Anthony Randolph and Anthony Morrow leave the team might not have been a particularly smart move as both young players shown a lot of potential and could very well blossom into solid NBA starters for the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets respectively. Likewise, Kelenna Azubuike was a fairly solid wing player and Ronny Turiaf a decent defensive minded big man. In other words, the Warriors lost some of their depth and have yet to prove that said players will not be sorely missed down the stretch. On the other hand, after a 26-56 record in 2009-10 it is hard to argue with the franchise's decision to blow up the roster.
Talking about young prospects, Golden State recently signed undrafted rookie Jeremy Lin who showed a lot of potential in the NBA Summer League for the Dallas Mavericks. In his last year in college, Lin averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.4 rebounds for Havard. Moreover, the Warriors also picked up Dorrell Wright from the Miami Heat who signed a three year contract worth approximately $11 million. In 2009-10, the small forward put up 7.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21 minutes per contest. Furthermore, the franchise from the Bay Area is hoping for sixth overall pick Ekpe Udoh to contribute right away and backup Andris Biedrins and David Lee. Last but not least, Golden State also acquired point guard Jannero Pargo who signed a one-year deal for $2.4 million. Most likely, Pargo will compete with Jeremy Lin for backup minutes behind Monta Ellis.
