Washington Wizards finally getting healthy
However, after a few steals during this year’s off-season and fully recovered core players, the future looks much brighter for the Wizards. Most importantly, NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas has bounced back from several injuries and is expected to lead the team in 2009-10. After only 15 regular season appearances over the last two years, the fan crowd in D.C. is anxiously awaiting the return of ‘Agent Zero’. Throughout his eight years in the league, combo-guard Gilbert Arenas managed to post an impressive career stats line of 22.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
Likewise, Arenas will be joined by fellow All-Stars Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler who both had their fare share of injuries, but appear to be ready for the 2009-10 season. Furthermore, the franchise was able to trade their fourth overall pick for more scoring off the bench on draft night. More specifically, the deal landed Mike Miller and Randy Foye in Washington in exchange for the draft pick and Darius Songeila. Last year, Mike Miller put up 9.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Unlike Miller, Foye has yet to reach the prime of his career in his third year out of Villanova. In 2008-09, Randy Foye was able to average 16.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds for a struggling ‘Wolves team. Thus, the only thing which remains to be seen will be how well the team might fit together. Even though on paper the Wizards look like a potential contender in the Eastern Conference, any prediction is a fairly difficult endeavor. Similarly, Washington has several injury-prone key players who may or may not be able to stay healthy throughout the season.
