Hoping to win a medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, Argentina is trying to secure the first place in group A in order to avoid playing another contender in the first two rounds of the subsequent elimination stage. Thus, Luis Scola and the Argentine team will face Australia in Kayseri on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. GMT.

Without any doubts, the injury of center Andrew Bogut is a harsh setback for Australia who were hoping for the center to lead them to glory at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. After all, Andrew Bogut averaged no less than 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2009-10. However, Australia is still able to field a very competitive squad as Patrick Mills from the Portland Trailblazers and David Andersen from the Toronto Raptors are expected to carry the team in Turkey. Likewise, coach Brett Brown can count on Euroleague players such as Matthew Nielsen, Brad Newley and Aleks Maric to round out the roster.

Much like Australia, Argentina will also have to compete at the 2010 FIBA World Championship without its best player, as All-Star guard Manu Ginobili from the San Antonio Spurs decided to sit out the tournament to avoid risking a possible injury. However, the Argentinians will still be led by NBA veterans like Andres Nocioni, Luis Scola, Fabricio Oberto and Carlos Delfino. Even though Nocioni might be a game-time decision, Argentina can be expected to have a slight advantage over the Australian squad as their offense should have no trouble finding the basket. That said, Argentina will have to take care of the ball and limit turnovers to a minimum to prevent Australia's speedy guards from scoring easy buckets in transition.
