After a rather bumpy road to the 2010 FIBA World Championship, Timofey Mozgov and the Russian national team is hoping to find its rhythm sooner rather than later in order to make it past the group stage in Turkey. Thus, Russia will face Carlos Arroyo and Puerto Rico on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. GMT.

Much like Russia, Puerto Rico did also encounter their fair share of problems during training camp and subsequent friendlies before the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Especially two straight losses versus a young German team without its NBA stars Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman raised some questions regarding the strength of the team around JJ Barea. Albeit Carlos Arroyo from the Miami Heat and Renaldo Balkman from the Denver Nuggets had their moments, the team's overall performance left much to be desired at both ends of the court.

Russia on the other hand is facing the tough task of playing another international tournament without Andrei Kirilenko from the Utah Jazz and J.R. Holdem from CSKA Moscow. Even though 23-year old center Timofey Mozgov has shown a lot of potential and was recently drafted by the New York Knicks, he will most likely not be able to provide the necessary leadership for coach David Blatt's squad. Nonetheless, Russia does have several Euroleague players who can be a tough cover on a good night, especially Sergei Bykov from CSKA Moscow and Kelly McCarty from UNICS Kazan are certainly two of the better international players. Therefore, basketball fans around the globe can expect a hard-nosed battle between two fairly even teams who will try to clinch a win in their first game at the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
