Serbia v Russia Live
After a rather unsatisfying performance at the Eurobasket 2009, the Russian squad is hoping to bounce back at this year's FIBA World Championship. In order to get ready for the tournament, Russia will face Nenad Krstic and the Serbian squad in an exhibition game on Friday at 3:30 p.m. GMT.
Serbia on the other hand is coming off a surprising silver medal finish at the FIBA Eurobasket in Poland last year and is looking forward to making some noise in Turkey next month. Albeit Nenad Krstic from the Oklahoma Thunder is Serbia's only NBA player, coach Dusan Ivkovic squad has shown that they can play excellent basketball at both ends of the floor. Especially their ability to share the ball and play unselfishly has been a huge factor in their recent success. Similarly, it will be interesting to see how some of Serbia's young players, such as Nemanja Bjelica who was recently drafted by the Washington Wizards, will perform.
In contrast, Russia is facing the tough task of having to compete without some of their key players at the upcoming 2010 FIBA World Championship. Most importantly, the team will have to play without Andrei Kirilenko from the Utah Jazz and former starting point guard J.R. Holdem from CSKA Moscow. That said, fans around the league will get to see Timofey Mozgov who will make his NBA debut for the New York Knicks in October. However, it remains to be seen whether the Russian team will be able to overcome the tough Serbian squad. Ultimately, Serbia has just performed much more consistently over the past few years and appears to be the superior team at this point.
