Spain v Lithuania Live
Considering that Spain narrowly missed the title at last year's Eurobasket, fans around the world can expect the team around Rudy Fernandez to play highly motivated at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Thus, Spain will face Linas Kleiza and the Lithuanian squad in Group D on Tuesday at 6 p.m. GMT.
Without any doutbs, Lithuania's performance at the 2009 Eurobasket was one of the most disappointing events in the country's basketball history. More precisely, the Lithuania won just one game and finished with a very disappointing 11th place. However, making it back to the top will be no easy task, especially since Zydrunas Ilgauskas from the Miami Heat will once again sit out the tournament to prepare for the upcoming NBA season. Likewise, Darius Songaila from the Washington Wizards will not be playing either, making Linas Kleiza from the Toronto Raptors the only NBA legionnaire.
Much like Lithuania, the Spaniards are also missing some key players, most importantly NBA All-Star Pau Gasol from the Los Angeles Lakers who will not be playing at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Moreover, point guard Jose Calderon from the Toronto Raptors suffered an ankle injury in an exhibition game versus the United States last week and will be sidelined as well. However, Ricky Rubio from FC Barcelona will be an excellent backup for the injured Calderon and should be able to help the team to advance to the elimination stage. Likewise, Rudy Fernandez and Marc Gasol are certainly two of the better players in the tournament and will most likely create a lot of problems for Lithuania's defense. Either way, basketball fans can expect a highly entertaining match when the game between Lithuania and Spain gets underway on Tuesday night.
