Although the Jazz won just three out of six to start the season, the team around Deron Williams showed some promising signs and is still trying to integrate all of their off-season acquisitions. Thus, the Utah Jazz will try to get a road win when they visit Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.

While Orlando's blowout loss versus the Heat was very disappointing for the franchise from Southern Florida, there is very little not to like about the Magic's performance apart from said incident. More specifically, Stan van Gundy's squad posted a 4-1 record in the first two weeks of regular season play and has been looking like a legitimate championship contender up to this point. Like in the past, Dwight Howard remains Orlando's offensive centerpiece and leads the team with 22.4 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 30 minutes per contest. Considering the experience and individual talent of the Magic's roster, Al Jefferson and company will most likely have a tough time stealing one on the road on Thursday night.

After a rather slow start into this year’s NBA campaign, Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz managed to get back on track as they won 7 out of their last 10. Hoping to hold on to their positive momentum, the Jazz will travel to Florida where they will face Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena on Tuesday at midnight GMT.

Although the Magic made it all the way to the NBA Finals in 2008-09, the franchise’s front-office was not hesitant to make changes in order to become even better. Seven weeks into the season, it looks like Orlando’s off-season moves are already paying dividends. Holding on to a 19-6 record and the second place in the Eastern Conference, the Magic are evidently playing up to their self-proclaimed contender ambitions. Entering a five-game homestand, Stan van Gundy’s squad is hoping to make a push for the Conference lead in December. So far, the team around All-Star Dwight Howard has performed very well defensively while having no trouble finding the hoop at the other end. In fact, the Magic held their opponents to just 96 points per contest and turned out to be a tough team inside and outside of the paint. Offensively, Vince Carter proved to be a great fit for Orlando’s inside-out system and led all scores with 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

In contrast, not everything went according to plan for the Jazz, albeit it looks like Carlos Boozer and company are on their way up. Coming off a win versus the struggling Nets, Utah finds itself in the race for home-court advantage and could make some noise down the stretch. However, one issue has been the Jazz’ mediocre performance on the road where they lost 6 out of 10. Likewise, the team relies to a large extent on Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer to play well and had considerable problems scoring whenever one of them had an off-night. Especially Williams has been brilliant thus far and put up amazing numbers as he averaged 20.4 points, 10.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 39 minutes per game. Considering the aforementioned circumstances, the Magic appear to have a slight edge over the Jazz but will most likely have to bring their A-game in order to clinch a win on Tuesday. Albeit Orlando’s bench is deeper than Utah’s, Jerry Sloan’s squad has shown countless times that they can be a tough team to beat when they play up to their potential. Most importantly, the Magic will have to try to contain Deron Williams who could have big night versus the undersized Jameer Nelson.
