Top 5 Football Players Currently in 2019/2020

With most leagues being on hiatus due to the Coronavirus outbreak we still have to look on the positive side. Since there are no matches played currently and we are hoping to get back in it in a month or so, we can talk about who is the best again.

The list is in no particular order as we look at the players who have made a mark this season and will most likely be in contention of being the best once the football season ends.

Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)

Virgil has been one of the main reasons for Liverpool race to the title this season. In fact, he was one of the main players last year when Liverpool won the Champions League. This season, Van Dijk has been a part of a stellar defense that saw Liverpool concede the league’s lowest 21 goals.

But besides being able to protect the net, Virgil has shown his scoring prowess in the attack. He netted 4 goals in the Premier League in 28 matches.

Kylian Mbappe (PSG)

Mbappe is not only one of the best young players in the world. He is one of the best players in general. Certainly the most prolific scorer in Ligue 1 this season, with 18 goals in 20 matches to his name.

PSG is off to another title and as things stand Kylian might be off next season to somewhere else where he will continue scoring goals. Real Madrid is the club that is currently favored to get him signed.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Barcelona’s legendary captain is having another stellar season for him. Even though Barcelona is not doing so well, being riddled with injures especially in the front, Leo is still pulling the sinking ship that is Barcelona to the finish line.

He just might make it as Barcelona is currently on top of La Liga with Real breathing heavily back at their necks. In the meantime, Messi is the league’s top scorer with 19 to his name and he will be the one to praise if Barcelona regains the title in Spain.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

Even though Juventus is not dominant Seria A as everybody is used to, they are still on top of the league at the time of the break with a single point advantage ahead of Lazio. The player that you would expect to be the best on the pitch is certainly Ronaldo.

Cristiano has not been having his usual season and there have been more debates about him leaving the club that actually playing. Nevertheless, he is the club’s top scorer with 21 goals in Seria A.

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Somewhat quietly, Lewandowski has been having one of the best seasons in his career. Bayern is comfortably sitting on the top of the table and they are expected to regain the title in Germany. More so, they are one of the main contenders for winning the Champions League as they dominated the group stage in a spectacular fashion.

Lewandowski is the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 25 goals in 23 matches and he also leads all goal scorers in the Champions League with 11 to his name. Robert is also in prime contention winning the Golden Boot this season if he continues his stellar form.
